President Joe Biden and Vice President Mike Pence have begun to weigh their options as the race for the 2020 Democratic nomination tightens in Iowa, with Biden considering Wisconsin Sen. Tammy Baldwin and a number of potential picks including Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison and former Sen. Russ Feingold.
The president, who is expected to announce his pick early this week, has not been in Iowa for nearly a month as he battles an illness.
He was on the campaign trail in Iowa last week and on Saturday in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where he made a stop with Democratic state Sen. Bruce Braley.
Biden’s visit came after he met with several members of the House and Senate delegation on Saturday and was expected to meet with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Sunday.
Bondi, meanwhile, is expected on Sunday with top aides to discuss how to move forward in his party, including the party’s prospects for the 2018 midterm elections.
Biden is expected in Wisconsin on Sunday, and the president has also visited Wisconsin in the past two weeks, including a trip to the state in April.
